Cloverfield made a shitload of money. Paramount is going to want a sequel. Even if JJ and Matt are not involved there will be a sequel. | ||||

Oh, I totally agree!! You don't 'not' make a sequel to such a huge bankable film. I'm sure that all this talk about possibly not doing a sequel is to only throw eager fans off long enough so that they may film it in peace. They know that the audience and news hounds will be more fierce this time around. It's part of their strategy. | ||||

From what the directors have said, I believe it to be a prequel. More backstory is most welcome.

There has to be a sequel. There are just too many loose ends in the movie. For example: If you watched the commentary, Jason's character mentions "I'm just hangin up there and you don't see me die, he swam it out". And Lily was lifted out in time, what happened to her? And You don't actually SEE Rob and Beth die, it just looks like it. Though it can be questioned as to why the tape was "recovered" and not received. But who knows! Hypothetically: When they were rescued they did take the camara, cuz they were unconscious, and the tape/camara was found later. Many possibilities. Though I think if they did a sequel, they better make it well. And not ruin the first. I think it was an amazing movie. | ||||

i hope it makes it but it is in its baby stage so we won't get any reports for a long time jj is working on other things now like a sequel to star trek i hope it makes it but not ina long time
