I keep wondering if Rob and Beth survived the "hammer down" in Central Park. I mean, the audio that plays near the end, it sounds like Rob's voice. The monster, Clover, survives (and we all know that) and the footage from the entire incident ends up in governments hands. So let's think about it. Lily makes it out in time and is probably the only survivor left. But I like to think that Rob, at least Rob survived too. How it ends up in the government hands is somewhat strange. I mean, it's under a pile of rubble so how could they have possibly known about the camera without stumbling upon it by accident? Either Lily sensed that the two lovers were underneath the bridge, or they just happened to randomly find the camera and go, "WHOA! HEY! LOOK AT THIS FOOTAGE! HOLY COW!" and proceed to edit it from thereon. It seems kinda farfetched, but does anyone else believe that possibly Rob Hawkins or any other characters from the Cloverfield movie survived the whole ordeal? I mean if you can survive a helicopter crash, why not a rickety old bridge knocked down by the aftershock(s) of a "hammer down" explosion?
Good point. Maybe Clovie moved to another part of America and rescue teams found Rob and Beth under the rubble, and with them, their camera.
I'm surprised the camera would even be durable to withstand being crushed by the rubble. Probably protected by Rob or Beth's body.
What are the reasons to believe that the monster is still alive? Besides the reversed audio clip.

The monster was unharmed by the military, so it could possibly also survive the bombing I guess..

It's a possibility that they're both still alive, I mean, in all honesty they're essentially protected by the rubble, assuming that it didn't crush them and "neatly" fell around them. I could see them being rescued by them, but then, the need for the video? I don't know, because if they *were* alive, we'd have their personal voice to vouch for it and not just the [confiscated] video.

But by deeming the video under DoD, doesn't that make you feel like that they want to try to hide something? I mean, just putting it into their archives like that, makes you feel like it's something to be kept from the public, despite other public accounts of it.

Ianno, that bit confused me.
i don't see as we have any proof that the beastie is dead either. last we knew, they bombed the hell outta central park, but we've seen no body, or evidence that its been killed
That's JJ Abrams for you, always with his cliffhangers. Tongue
i think that they did just radomly stimble upon it im about to post a couple things so cya ppl
Well, we know the hammer down wasn't a nuclear strike. Those don't need alot to do much. There was probably a nice mushroom cloud involved, but no nuclear payload.

With this said, there is a chance that Rob and Beth survived. If not, then atleast their bodies where found removing the rubble and in the process they found the camrea. And as for why the military took it, and this is the stupid and crazy part of my brain working, is to get other countries or more people in the nation to care that there's a giant monster on the loose.
Other countries would probably take notice, but not really care that America was being destoryed, but there are some self centered, closed minded people in America that wouldn't care untill the thing attacked them.

And there's also the chance that some animal rights activist are trying to stop the military from killing the creature and all that. At this point in the new game, anything can be possible.
