Cloverfield and…9/11…?
Posted on January 3rd, 2008 at 5:18 am in |
Well now i’ve heard just about everything.
I guess its understandable for this women to beleive Cloverfield is connected to 9/11, after just seeing the 2nd trailer (no mention of her watching the first). But she has not looked into the game (well, there is no mention of it).
all this has done has made me distrust Fox news even more, and makes me think fox will think of just about anything to get a quick story.
here’s the video:
So, stay tuned to Fox news…Tagruato could be “al queda”…”TidoWave” is America’s army…”monster” starring as the planes….

Its Just A F@CK movie get over it.
I think this lady is insane. She needs medical help.
I won’t criticize the lady, since she is in the distressed position of having lost someone in the REAL attacks. However, do expect many others to follow suit, because in this world, and particularly here in New York, someone is always looking to be offended at a product of fiction. Especially if it’s mass produced for profit. Take solace in the fact that FOX and other news agencies exploit 9/11 far more than this movie.
That woman has literally lost her damn mind. Fox will broadcast anything to get attention whether it’s news or not. Give me a friggin break, I have finally seen everything. I know everytime I watch Transformers it makes me flashback to that car crash I was in. Common sense is not that common I guess.
I get it now. J.J. is with the terroist and has made this movie for us to watch while a reall attack happens.
But really, this woman does have a point, but not a good one. She’s also deweling on the past too much. I pay my respects to those who died, then I go on with my life and remember them on the approprate days. And I don’t blame movies or games on being based on stuff that happened in real life. If I did I would have been bashing the Silent Hill movie for the use of mist, fire, and smoke being based on when that giant swamp *sad that i can’t remember the name and I’ve been there* was on fire for almost four months and the lower half of Georgia was sucking down the smoke from it.
If I was to talk to the lady face to face, I would say “Listen *insert name*, I’m sorry that you lost your son on 9/11 and I feel for you. While I didn’t lose anybody on that day, I have lost alot of family members since then. But although you must still feel the pain of your lose, don’t let it over come you and make you attack everything that depicts the destruction of New York….”
Wait…. where was this lady during I Am Legend? I havn’t seen it but I know there was a destruction of a bridge. Doesn’t that warrent some flacking from people still sore from 9/11?
What ever. I’m still going to see Cloverfield on the day it’s released. I will sit down and enjoy it or hate it depending on if it’s good or not. And if anybody says anything about 9/11, I will find a way to get them banned from the movie theater forever so nobody will have to put up with them during any other movie.
She is everything wrong with Right Wing America…..
UGH.
I don’t even know what to write.
I just cannot believe that poster brings the 9/11 attacks to mind. Did the planes crash into tsol? Did the jets crash into the water and create a wake to the city?
We’re unprotected from terrorist attacks? Yeah, because of people like her creating hysteria and foolish belief that in giving up our rights we will be protected.
People like her make me sick that I’m a US citizen.
Anthony V, I understand your view, but I’ll criticize her. Many people have lost loved ones. You get over it, and you move on. Her bitching and complaining about Cloverfield is the reason that she still suffers, and she’s causing more grief for others by making the comparison.
I hate Fox news.
Man Jarvis, I wish I hadn’t taken the time to read this. lol
My apologies to everyone for going ape on that last post.
I hate stupid people.
lol its kool….i didnt say “dont flame”…lol
I….I…she….you’ve got to be sh&%ting me! That’s the STUPIDEST thing I’ve heard in a loooong time. What else can I say……
God, I feel sorry for her and what happened on 9/11 but she’s just one person. I mean, seriously, ONE person states that Cloverfield “somehow” reminds them of 9/11 and FOX gets grabbed by the balls and starts recording this monotonous, hysteric, off-the-walls, crack-induced “Me! Me! ME!” message. Yeah, what about I Am Legend? Those F-22s bombed the shit outta the bridge, but no one talked about it. Face it, lady, there is NO RELEVANCE to 9/11 and Cloverfield. Just because the “city is in flames” — even THAT quote has nothing to do with 9/11 — that doesn’t give any justification for someone to start critisizing a movie, especially one where the movie hasn’t even been released. You wanna talk about movies that parody 9/11? Open your fucking eyes and look at World Trade Center — I mean, Nicholas Cage basically fucked up ANY relation to 9/11 and Hollywood. God, this is why I hate politally-correct, crack-induced Americans who have nothing better to do but bring down whatever industry they can get their hands on just for their 15 minutes of fame. If you wanna remember 9/11, do it by yourself, not exploiting it on Nation Televison when no one (not even me) actually wants to remember it. AARRRGHHH!!! FOX News and CNN have lost one viewer - ME!
I go to the movies with my girlfriend to forget about reality and listen to a story, not remember what happened. Even the guy who interviewed seems fed up and ends the interview, “Thank you, Alice…” because she repeats herself over and over with the same lines. I have no grudge against her, just stop attacking movies, PLEASE! There’s already a lawyer trying to take down the gaming industry — I don’t want the movie industry to be next.
That’s the end of my rant, :3

well, thats embarassing
shes apparantly from a few miles north of me.
Well Optimus, you know what you have to do now. Send thousands apon thousands of letters, notes, and phone calls useing fake names and addresses to her saying how nobody made the connection of Cloverfield to 9/11 untill she pointed it out, thus bring that painful memory to mind when they just want to go on with their lives.
Or you can do nothing and maybe you’ll see her at the movie theaters watching Cloverfield so you can point out how she contradited herself.
Moodyman, I really hope that second part becomes a reality.
I love shoving people’s hypocracy in their faces.
Or, even better, I hope she protests outside a theater.
That way all the people who go see the movie can notice how ridiculous she is, out there all by herself.
I wish this was just part of the marketing campaign instead of some old coot.
you had to figure someone would come out and say that though and it always seems to be on the fox network but i mean its just a movie and im sorry for her loss but she cant blame jj and them for their movie bringing back her painful memories. this is as bad as the people who wont let their kids watch the spongebob movie because it promotes homosexuality. I really dont understand people now in this generation. Everybody seems to be negative about everything.
I feel for the lady but she’s obviously never paid any attention to movies prior to 9/11.
A lot of big disaster movies, heck a lot of movies in general, take place in or are about NEW YORK!
Why?
1. Because everyone recognizes the city.
I’ve never even been there, but I know what the whole darn city looks like, and it’s populated by lots of people! Perfect for maximum carnage!
2. A lot of the writers are either from or move to New York since it is one of the largest centers of art and entertainment in this country.
Lots of writers write about what they know. If they live in New York, they are probably going to write about it.
Honestly, I’m kinda tired of New York in the cinema and comics, but it has nothing to do with 9/11.
I just know there are other cities out there to destroy!
If the poster reminds her of 9/11, then the falling building that appears in the 5-minute movie segment will surely blow her mind. Expect more ninnies to open their mouths.
I agree that NYC is the main attraction, but if people get upset about something that somehow relates to a horrible event that happened seven years ago, then I can understand, but don’t use the monster-movie industry as your scapegoat.
Well guys. I know what we can do. We can make our own movie and destory some other city becides New York or L.A. or any of those other over used citys. I say, we destory Atlanta. The cities had what, one movie that destoryes it, and that was Gone with the Wind and based on Civil War times.
hahaha, my bet is that we destroy California and make Paris Hilton the monster. :D
and her vd parasites.
aaaiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee.
Yeah, why don’t they destroy Chicago for once? The only time Chicago ever seems to get destroyed in movies is when they destroy a bunch of cities and it is just a small percentage of the destruction…
lol, Lizzi, have you ever seen Robocop 3?
I think they destroyed Chicago, or was it Detroit — I forget. :P
