Cloverfield rated PG-13!
Posted on December 11th, 2007 at 4:56 pm in |
www.cloverfieldmovie.com has had an update; special thanks to officespacejk for e-mailing me about this!

This officially debunks the “golden review” found at Unfiction where a member posted a full review of the movie, word for word speech of the characters with lots of cussing. Like i said, how can anyone come home and remember that much, and what everyone said in a movie…especcialy one with “short term memory loss” lol.
So, all you lucky 13 year olds out there will get to see the movie of the century! YAY!
Its coming…Its nearly here…1 month and a bit to go!

Aw, I turn 17, next year in March.
Well, at least I can see the movie, now — thank god for that.
…
Even though the review was fake, I thought it was pretty cool how he said that Jamie was the one who died in the taxi by being crushed under the rolling liberty head.
And there is a taxi being crushed by the liberty head (watch the very end of the original teaser, just as the guy starts screaming “OH MY GOD!”)
Aw, I wish it really did happen, though.
PG-13(that’ll be just PG for us UK people then)
that kinda sucks, means all the gore that was metioned months ago won’t be in there (remember someone a few months ago said the next trailer was the sence were there in the army tent and the girl ,who’s stomach blows up, starts getting sick)
oh well, almost here…well Feb for us brits…dammit!!!
steven king’s IT, the grudge, poltergiest, pulse…
there’s been some, i agree it would’a been better w/ an R, and just let it go. if i was bein’ chased by a big nasty like that, i could help myself. right there infront of my ma, granny, and everybody…”holy fuk, thats fukin huge, i’m gettin the fuk outta here”
and, now its an R movie. could anybody really go through what they are going through, and not go f-bomb droppin?
I agree with oficespacejk, if a huge monster was chasing me, I wouldn’t be saying, “I saw it, it’s alive! It’s huge!” I’d push Rob, Beth and Marlene away and go, “OH SHIT! THAT’S A HUGE BITCH! GET THE F*** OUTTA MY WAY!!!” XD
another thing to think about, this movie in its complete form has been screened by several people not w/ bad robot or paramount. in order to get MPAA ratings, you have to send your completed film in for viewing, reviewing, processing, and grading.
i can’t say that i know much about who or how many MPAA people actually view the movie, but it has been seen by virgin eyes.
You’re right. In order for it to actually get ratings, you’d have to get early screenings. And December (a month from its actual release) is a good time to do early pre-screenings. So maybe that movie review was actually real. thewhistleblower (the OP from Unfiction) probably took it down because he didn’t want to spoil it to everyone, and those other fake movie reviews weren’t off (one of them said that it doesn’t take long to get to the party scene, and the one at Unfiction basically sails the same boat). I mean, we’ve debunked so many things that turned out to be the real thing that I don’t even know what to believe, anymore.
i’ve got the review you sent, and i’m afraid to read it…i feel silly being 31 years old and saying i’m afraid to read something, but i digress…if there is any truth to it, i don’t wanna screw up the movie for me.
i did that w/ 23. the number 23 was a pretty decent movie, but when you know the who/how of the may or may not be real murder, it kind screws everything else.
You don’t have to read it. If Jarvis says it’s fake, then it must be fake. xD
all hale king jarvis…hip hip horray
well, this is new to me, but not very exciting…
tagruato.com now has wave sounds when you change pages
I wish this was rated R. Not for the language or violence, but for the nudity. I want to see the monsters huge rack during the Statue of Liberty lesbian scene.
there’s always the chance of an “unrated’ DVD release about 6 months after it comes out. Or a speical directors edition that adds in the stuff the fans and people like us wanted.
But I’m getting too far ahead of myself. With it being PG-13, it’ll reach out to a broader audience, since teenagers don’t sneek into R rated films these days, thus hopefuly bring in more money.
I don’t know. All I know if that it’ll be either a smash hit, a cult classic, or a total bomb that will make us want to kill ourselves for fallowing it for half a year.
it will be a cult classic. look at attack of the killer tomatoes. absolutely horrible film, but that are a strong band of followers that don’t waver.
we are those tomato followers
I was alittle young for Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Quite frankly, I’ve never seen it. I did watch the cartoon growing up, but that probably doesn’t count.
As for me, I want it to be a cult classic and nothing else. That way not everybody is praising it exept people like us who fallowed it for all this time.
killer tomatoes, rocky horror, hitchhikers guide, waiting, office space…many cult movies out there
@officespacejk: those sounds have been there since the website was launched.
Just a thought- i understand why many of you would like this movie to hold an r rating, but with the camera type being used, clearly a lot of gore would be unrealistic. As for the cussing, well that clearly would be there in this situation. But, and i may be wrong, many movies that are pg-13 like Elizabethtown, had a lot of cussing, even the f-bomb was dropped. Finally, i work at a movie theatre, and it wouldnt have made sense to have the movie rated r when the premiere of all of the ads came in front of pg-13 movies. That would have been detrimental to marketing, and most importantly, that would cause more sneaky minors to come in…and they are a pain! Anywho, just my thoughts.
Guys, the Cloverfield trailer (the new one) is available for download on the PlayStation Store — so if you have a PS3, you can download it onto your PS3 and watch it frame by frame! WHOOOO!!!! That’s what I did, it was AWESOME!!!
