Tagruato clues?

The new www.tagruato.jp. Some clever eye’d people have noticed 5 Roman Numerals on the sea creatures in the website picture above.

So what do these numerals mean? Well here is the theory;

There is such thing as a Tanner Crab, and a Irukandju jellyfish!
So, what could this mean?
PrO’s theory;
maybe Tagruato was hacked, due to “the cause”, I mean, it seems logical. Maybe the Jamie and Teddy videos are recorded AFTER the scenes of 1-18-08, and so that the cause is trying to bring Tagruato and/or Slusho! to justice because of what the theory states for “why officials are so interested in the footage” because it provides evidence to bust Tagruato! Holy crap, I may be onto something!
And I guess the TIDOO (if you google tidoo), is just the doll that is given as a present to Jamie because maybe it’s a memorial (or however you say it) for all of the people and friends that died during the events.Hmmm…What do you think?

I found another clue on the Tagruato image — seems like there’s another creature in the image.
I will upload the image soon and show you it, in a second.
I didn’t make the outline, I just saw the image, saved it, enhanced the photo a bit to show more detail and upload it.

ALRIGHT, I’ve gone dark for about the past week until I expected the trailer to play before Beowulf, but of course/alas, it didn’t. So, I headed over to Apple’s site and waited patiently on my under-56k connection.
I’ll skip explaining my excitement and just give you my other thoughts.
I’m sure there’s plenty of work yet to be done on these here new developments, but it’s all pretty wonderful. I’ve never been more excited for this movie to come. And I’m VERY happy they decided just to call it “Cloverfield,” since it was the most commonly used codename after all. And, it lets this site keep its domain name!
Out of curiosity, how did you get from the letters (T, I, D, O, O) and the numbers to the names?
I’ve been away a long time, so I’m sorry if I’m repeating observations or reopening old arguments. Just call me a n00b and move on.

Ok Tony, look closely at the sea creatures. There is a closeup right on the post and u can clearly sae 5 roman numerals, 1 number on each fish. Then there are faint names also painted on the creatures.

I noticed the shadow of the crab and it almost looks like the thing under the squid is the shadow for the jellyfish?

Hey, does anyone remember the poem for that one “japanese wave painting” that looks to be cropped onto the Tagruato image?
I was also thinking about “the cause”…maybe what we’re looking for goes way deeper that what we expect. Maybe Tagruato has other reasons to do the deep-sea drilling operations — like, maybe Slusho! is forcing Tagruato in some way to drill for seabed nectar and then when the 1-18-08 events have passed and people discovered Hawkins supposedly yelling into the camera about how the parasites are attracted to Slusho! I mean, there’s gotta be more at stake for Tagruato. Maybe Slusho! got all macho and tampered with the evidence so that the blame rests more on Tagruato than it does on Slusho! Maybe I should stop making these run-on sentences! Anyways, I’ve been watching too much CSI Miami, so discuss my theory amongst yourselves while I make some Kool-Aid and tamper with more Cloverfield evidence…I mean, work with photoshop. :3
There are non-roman numerals located next to two of the animals. You can see the 2 in the photo above and there is a number 4 slightly visible above that weird fish. Might be relevant, might not be.
Also, Pr0LiFiX, I think I know what you’re talking about and I have that poster in my dorm room but there’s no poem on it, it’s also not exactly the same as the one on the picture but I agree, it’s similar.

You guys are looking into things too much. Remember when the teaser came out and J.J. said that the most important line from the teaser was “It’s alive”. If you google “It’s alive” you will find its a tagline for The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Reading more about this movie from 1953 a lot of similarities can be found. For example:
“The original story was to have a creature, called a minotaur (not the mythical creature), defrosted by an atomic blast and then run amok, eventually destroying the Statue of Liberty before being refrozen by a special freeze jets mounted on helicopters.”
Instead of the atomic blast in this movie the creature is awoken/defrosted by the drilling that just started in the mid atlantic ridge.
“Eventually the monster makes its way to New York where it kills several people not just by devouring them or crushing them with its sheer weight, but it also is the carrier of a deadly virulent disease.”
Would make sense of why there are people wearing hazard suits and could explain what is happening to the lady in the picture behind the curtain.
In this movie the beast is destroyed finally at Cooney Island. If I recall correctly there was some shooting done at there for this production and where supposedly someone finds the video camera? Coincidence? I think not…
And on a final note without telling you guys completely about the movie if you look at the movie posters for that movie it resembles a lot of the screen shots for this production.
Sorry for spoiling all of your fun but at least I held off on giving you all this information for months…

TElson - I posted a comment regarding The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms on this site on October 22nd “What have we achieved” but was it was dismissed as this is not a remake - JJ had made a comment to that effect. Can someone confirm what was actually said regarding remakes?
Yes, JJ Abrams did say that — please watch the Comic-con footage on youtube. I am sick at tired of people like you, TElson, who stray from the obvious, the facts that are layed right in front of you, constantly dismissing words spoken by JJ himself, so you can act like you f***ing solved the mystery when you aren’t even close. JJ stated that it’s NOT a remake, sequel, Cthulu, Voltron, a lion, the Kool-Aid man, State Puff Marshmallow Man, Ghostbusters, or anything else already done. First of Jerry I made no comment on Slusho at all. I feel that Slusho is just marketing for the movie. I believe that once the movie goes to come out there will be Slusho sold in stores around the U.S. like Duff was for the simpsons movie.

oh, and FYI, that fish in the lower left is an angler fish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglerfish). the pics on this site don’t match very well, but i couldn’t find anything w/ better pics & a good description. the deep sea versions have whitish looking eyes, that are sensitive to light, not so much shape/color because of they live at the bottom of the ocean. the mouth looks difference ’cause of the the “angler” worm dangling in front of its mouth. they have a fleshy worm like appendage at the end of a spine they can move around to look like bait, thus angler fish.

RE: this being a crab, i don’t think so. there are 3 marks on the back of the SoL where the head was removed. a crab claw (or lobster or scorpion…etc) would leave 1 on the front, and 1 on the back. a mutant 3 clawed crustacean could be interesting though.
but, i think the answers are right here in this pic from the hacked site. angler fish, means its deep sea. then we’ve got a mix of man-o-war, squid, and a crablike creature that doesn’t actually have a claw (wierd).
i’m hesitant to think that slusho is directly responsible though, would JJ build up a fake product for 4 or 5 years, through 2 or 3 different shows only to blow his wad on a movie he decided to make a year ago?

CodyJamesBarker that sign has been there since the first teaser came out. I HIGHLY doubt it has any relevance whatsoever with the thousand more plausible theories out right now. It’s something that definitely catches attention for maybe a second or two, but nothing more. It is just a sign that happened to be there when the film is shot. You’re digging way too deep for this.
Cinco…wether you like it or not you do have to look hard for clues nowadays. Remeber how we found tagruato? I’ll give u a clue: it was NOT from Slusho…
It is better to theory and debunk than forgot about something all together…
And Cinco…If you dont want to get “too involved” or search “to deep”….then i suggest waiting until the actual movie comes out and not bothering us with trolling comments.

It’s ok, maybe I was the one who overreacted a little bit in my last post. I was just expressing my opinion to how far people go to find ANY hint about this film. And I DO give lots of kudos for people who go out of their way to make discoveries that none of us would have figure out. And I don’t go around sites telling people to get lives and stop doing what they’re doing because these things actually interest me and further heigtens my anticipation for Cloverfield. I just thought that particular street sign doesn’t present any kind of significance with the ongoing observation of this film.
Yeah i would agree it shouldnt have any major significance….im just intigued to what it says because it seems to be “dead…” i dunno lol…

Alright, I’m back again, and fully updated, hopefully. Good find on Tagruato, cinco. We need to work together to either translate those words (probably just “under construction”) or frequent one of the more major blogs to see if someone else has translated it yet. Chances are, with the sign below it, construction is all it means.
In the meantime, on the topic of the fish(es), what significance does this all have? What can we do with these names and numbers? Can we punch them into the flavor mixer on the Slusho! website, somehow? Someone? Anyone? Meh?

Just a general observation, looking at the big picture for a second:
JJ made a mistake releasing the teaser as early as he did. It drew interest, but the long wait killed off a lot of followers. Now that the trailer’s out, I’m sure there’s going to actually be things going on with this campaign.

The Tagruato site is back to normal, as in nothing has changed since the hacking. Which is kind of disappointing considering I was anticipating some sort of surprise or at least a response to whatever the hell just happened to it. However, I haven’t FULLY skimmed through the site yet so I’m not 100% sure that NOTHING has changed.
*sigh* sorry for the double post. Adding to my previous post, considering the fact that the Tagruato site seems to be unchanged post-hack: I have this weird gut feeling that the hacking was actual and had nothing to do with the Cloverfield ARG and that some idiot decided to mess with the site to get us all hyped for the wrong stuff. I don’t know, chances are I’m wrong (I hope I am). Because I really find it unusual that Tagruato has not revealed any sort of press release about the hacking that took over their site for days.
I’m sure that this has already been pointed out, but if you look at the poster sot of the Statue of Liberty you’ll notice in the back that there’s a gash in the back, leading to believe that whatever the creature is, it has opposable thumbs. It seems as though he grabbed the back with his thumb and then used the rest of his 3 clawed hand to rip off the head. By seeing the monster in the Trailer and hearing descriptions on a “skyscraper” sized creature it isn’t really that far fetched.
Sorry for Double Post, but during the trailer also when they’re in the store I believe the last thing said is “It’s Alive” right before that someone said “Rob, I saw it!”

‘U.S. 447′ implies that incidents like these will happen not only all over the United States, but in other countries as well. This means that either there is more than one large monster or that there is only one that is incredibly hard to defeat that went on a world-wide rampage.

katrina’s designation was “FEMA-1604-DR”.
nothing interesting here. i’m kinda surprised that the incident number didn’t have a “6″ in it though.
It could also be a grid designation also. It’s probable that NYC would be broken up into sectors, since it also says “area formerly known as Central Park”.
Still, I would think that with all of the “deep sea drilling” and the US getting Slusho! later than other places, there would be more locations attacked.

The deep-sea drilling located close to Manhattan Island is the newest drilling location and seems to have the most resources put into it for the drilling. They may be working with something big, or found something unexpected…like the monster — ZOMFG!!!11!
slusho could just be a coincidence. i.e., they have done drilling in lots of places, this time, they just picked the wrong one. they drilled in a deep trench, woke up the big nasty, and all hell breaks loose.
i like that idea about the secret ingredient being the nasty’s blood, but for this to happen here, and no where else, it might just be a wake up call to some big nasty that wasn’t done w/ its nap.
Now I accept the fact that we’re all helping trying to uncover all these mysteries regarding cloverfield. But it simply amazes me how someone is lifeless enough to spend hours if not days risk hacking such a website. If it really is a ‘real’ hack (which now I am pretty much convinced it is) then JJ and his crew are paying somewhat little attention to what they’re trying to do,
Holy crap, the workforce for the Chuai station is 355 people, while others range from 65 to 300 and such.
Not to mention that there are more drilling operations on the map.
Six new old ones just appeared and one other one appeared — near the North Pole.

We think the website is fake for these reasons.
- not enough flash images.
- Grammar spelling error’s.
- Changes to much, so far has changed templates 6 times.
- Changed .jp domain to .org.
- Tagruato does not link to the site.
- We found free templates of the website, found on the internet.

Jarvis: maybe everything we know as fact should be listed under a post. a lot of work yes, but maybe it will cut down on repeats.
Just a guess….
I think that Tagruato found six deep sea creatures that have been abiding in the secret ingredient of Slusho. The ingredient is only found in the extreme depths, is somewhat addictive, and is a natural biochemical enhancer. Maybe that’s why Slusho sells so well. “You can’t have just 6″ cause you’re addicted. The creatures had more than enough time to dwell in the chemical and get massive. I kind of do believe that there are six creatures because there are six powerful and different flavor ingredients in Slusho (each gathered from the six different drilling locations?), and six different animals as you hover over the menu options of the Slusho front page.
I also think that either Yoshida Medical Research made one creature by combining the body parts of the different creatures or they grew one with the different qualities. http://www.tagruato.jp/drtakahashi.php Yoshida would also be the one to try find a cure for whatever disease would be in the movie.
Another assumption….
I can’t help but think that the woman quarantined in the tent had been drinking Slusho which “transformed” her baby (maybe that’s why they showed the teaser during Transformers). I imagine the baby ripping/exploding out of her abdomen. Yeah I know…it’s a stretch

the 6 flavors/robots are just that, flavors. the sea nector (kinda looks like a lotus flower above the slusho cup) is the “secret ingrediant”. the others are just blueberry, chocolate, mandarin orange (mikan), pear (nashi), banana, and strawberry.
it’d take alot for me to believe that flavors like this were found at the bottom of the ocean, each at a different location.

I don’t mean literally though. More that the flavors figuratively represent the combining of the creatures
I have a theory about Rob being told “It’s alive” in the second trailer and also someone shouting it in the teaser. Perhaps the person telling Rob knows something about what Rob has been working on (or Taraguto), possibly a deep sea creature they found dead..only it came back to life, or was sleeping…something like that. Only speculation, will definitely have to see the movie.
FSC Garcia, I highly doubt that the random pedestrian in the first trailer knew about Tagruato.
Hawk, in the second trailer, most likely does because he’s really the only person at the party who advertises Slusho! and seems to be really good friends with Rob.
Also I’m thinking that if Rob (and Hawk) knew about the beasts existence ins some way and Hawk has just confirmed to Rob that it’s alive (shop scene trailer 2) Rob would mention it iwhen he’s talking into the camera - which chronologically comes well after the shop scene ie the camera man has died.
It was worth a shot - can’t keep up with you guys. Kind of strange that it is mentioned in both trailers though.
I still do not believe that Rob had any clue that a monster was attacking. I have no idea why people think that he did. Can someone explain why they think that Rob knew about the monster? Do not include that Rob was acting too calm in the first trailer.
You’re right, and I do think that if he is sayin It’s Alive it is important as he’s only saying to Rob. The other options is It’s a Lie which would also tie in to some conspiracy/prior knowledge of something. Pr0LiFiX - you mentioned “It’s a Loss”, I still can’t hear that but that may scupper it all if that’s correct!

But, given that cryptic message that starts off the second trailer, there’s got to be some authority that designates it site 447, and if that’s the way FEMA does it, then I’d assume there’s some vestige of a government left. I think, therefore I am. Washington is like, right there, anyway.

The Smilers! break into the Bronx Zoo in an act to free the captives (ala 12 Monkeys.) They dose up a variety of animals with Slusho! (we all know kitties and puppies LOVE it!) They then go on a wild mutant rampage through New York. Could explain why there are bits where you hear smaller ’somethings’ making different noises (e.g. the scene where they all turn around and someone yells RUN! after you hear the chittering and what kinda sounds like small padded feet running. Maybe monkeys? wolves? Slusho!-juiced lemurs?!?!?!)

ParafFun! These are just a few points I wanted to introduce, via Wikipedia.
Paraffin: common name for a group of alkane hydrocarbons. Paraffin molecules can range from methane (maybe our monster(s) fart?) which is a gas at room temperature. (Could also explain the “bloating/exploding” of the girl in the trailer.) Liquid state is octane and a solid form is commonly known as paraffin wax.
The word is derived from Latin. Parum=barely and affinis=lacking reactivity. Wonder if there is something in that.
Pure paraffin wax is a great electrical insulator and is excellent for storing heat (like hot things from under the earth’s crust…deep sea drilling anyone?) Liquid paraffin has medicinal purposes. It can be used to aid bowel movements and is passed through the body without being taken in (digested) BUT it limits the amount of water removed from the stool. It’s also used to give food a “shiny” appearance.
I doubt they would offer this up as another company under the parent Tagruato if it didn’t have a purpose and a role in the movie. What do you all make of this, if anything?
Maybe the ‘paraffin’ connection IS the secret ingredient in Slusho! That would explain the drilling (and where they’re getting it and hence the mining exploration division), the YMR division doing the research on it, ParafFun! doing the processing, and SLusho! being the vehicle of distribution and delivery.
I also am liking the tardigrade ’sea bear’ theory a little more. Paraffin’s properties would fit right in to the awakening of a creature that’s been stewing in this stuff for centuries in an anoxybiosis state. The ’secret ingredient’ paraffin is pulled out of the cavity where this thing has been in stasis and thus providing the trigger for it’s ‘awakening.’
Why New York? The last well of course! It might also explain the post about the new double-hulled tankers (to satisfy US regulations?) and a connection to another post I made about the direction of travel shown in the movie poster across the harbor from Liberty Island towards…where else…the long shore docks where they MAY have the facilities to offload this stuff. (I wonder if ParafFun IG will announce a facility opening in NYC.) Now (IF I remember correctly) you continue that line of travel from the SOL through the south Bronx you come to Coney Island right? Didn’t they film some stuff there? I might also bet (with a little map work) that the apartment where they are having the party is in the Bronx somewhere.

paraffin is also a byproduct of every known use of oil based products. your car produces them, by breaking down molecules in the oil. hell, thats what “synthetic” oil is, its still real oil just like everything else, made from dino-guts from days gone by, but they remove the paraffin from it.
paraffin is so easy to produce, its a nuesance more often than intended, i don’t think they would need to drill miles below the sea to get it.

viper244 - (as a non new yorker) I’ve been trying to put together the route the monster takes from the clues in the trailers. I don’t know but it might just lead to something in terms of our putting the pieces together over the coming weeks.
The paraffin link may go a long way to explain the explosion. It’s pretty massive and a fuel/chem depot is likely source. As an aside has anyone discussed the exploding debris, also the distance it travels to Robs party? - especially if that’s the bronx…which is why it would be good to get a handle on where that is and and where it is in relation to the SoL.
From my basic understanding the bronx is north north east of Manhattan with the SoL SW of that and Coney Island south of that again.
So, the way I had it was the monster heads north from the open ocean. Does some roaring (heard at Rob’s party, possibly coney Island area?) and stomping/carnage on land (earthquake reports - but not giant monster reports so I guess it’s doing a good job of not been seen at that point). Then I had it heading north (more than likey by water) and blowing soemthing big up. It then takes the time from the explosion to Rob and co reaching the street before it lops the head of the SoL and sends it x number of blocks to Robs party venue.
Also what bridge is it that gets smashed up what seems to be a lot later?
So I guess i’m trying to fill in gaps as to where the party is in realtion to the SoL? what is around that area that woud cause such a huge explosion? and from that why would the monster be drawn to that place? Does it head north then go back out to sea after surviving the army’s attentions?

Because I’m assuming that it came from the Chaui Station. and being a native of New Jersey, I have never been to the SoL. something about it always being there that I never took the time to visit. although I did pass her on a cruise out of manhattan. so she isn’t far from lower manhattan. maybe “it” came up by the piers. (man the dock worker would be pissed about that).

Jo - got this from a sci blog here in the UK re the Mid Atlantic Ridge which is where the Chaui Station is. It’s approx 1600 miles off shore. Sounds like a pretty full on place to drill:

Here is what I think (again)…One monster…It is a big ass monster. No Voltron like creatures. Just one big monster. Maybe people get some kind of infection, and turn in to some sort of zombie or something. I don’t think cloverfield has anything to do with the irish. Pauisnofun - the way I read the opening statement is that the whole event is known as Cloverfield and that Central Park is just Site 447 ( suggesting at least 44 miliatry designated areas).
However if it is referring to Central Park then maybe that’s where it meetsit’s end or there is something there that prompts its demise.

The reason the movie is called “Cloverfield” (according to J.J., when talking about the codename, not the government’s reasoning) is because the song that is playing at the party when the monster first roars is “Woman” by Wolfmother. One of Wolfmother’s most popular songs is “The Joker and the Thief,” and one of the lyrics involves “standing in a field of clover.”

hell, there was an even one called “operation mickey mouse” in WWII, which was cover for the kidnapping of a hungarian official.

Obviously there were no military personnel at Rob’s party (OR WERE THERE?), but seeing as the tape was retrieved, the beginning of the tape must have been seen. In fact, we know it was, with that rewinding bit in the beginning of the second trailer. So, yeah, it’s quite a stretch, but I doubt anyone can be proven right or wrong about it. We’re not gonna see that in the movie.
Another thing I’ve been thinking about… given the temperatures on the TV screen in the teaser, and the summer-looking clothing of all the characters, why couldn’t this all take place some summer, and the movie is just being released in January? That would allow these Jamie and Teddy videos to fall into place anytime at all… but if we get a new video come December 9th, then we’ll know it’s real time.

Yeah, David, I think you’re taking this a bit too far. I’m sure that, apart from a military intervention or some supernatural powers of the monster’s, a gas line is the answer.
In the video Jarvis sent me a long time ago (in a GFFA), the “source” claimed that the monster rose up from UNDERNEATH the city, and in the process hit a gas line. In this shot, as well, you can make out the monster’s “face” (this is the teaser I’m talking about here. Jarv, if you still have the link, be a nice young man and post it?).
Jarv, chances are, even if JJ were to somehow miraculously see that message, it’d be too late. Not to say that this movie isn’t going to be fuggin’ AWESOME. JJ has my full support in whatever endeavor he partakes in. So far, everything he’s done has been right by me.
In the movie poster, you can see that as the monster enters Manhattan and a chunk of land is destroyed. There probably was a gas pipe somewhere in there.
This doesn’t matter too much… But do you guys think that the monster thought that the SoL was an actual living being? And so ripped the head off. Or punched it all the way into Manhattan.

Just my opinion, but if a gasline explosion produces “the largest nonnuclear explosion and fire ever seen from space…”, then it’s going to take out more than what appears to be taken out.
The shockwave alone would put a whoopin’ on the Woolworth Building (the tall building near the explosion in the original trailer).
To throw another monkey into the wrench works, I keep thinking about some information I found awhile ago…..this is all research that I did just days after seeing the initial trailer.

I think it’s very funny that some people involved in Project Serpo also call it Slusho. Granted, they are people that don’t believe it, but really, what are the chances that something tagged “slusho”, also contains the term “cloverfield”?

Ok so my geography sucks and since I’m not from NYC I don’t know it as well as a native would. The SOL actually faces towards Long Isl. I believe. The trouble I have with the ‘possible path’ maps I’ve seen is that because of the position of the Woolworth building and what appears to be the Municipal building as well wouldn’t that put Rob’s party somewhere on West Broadway? maybe near the Chambers St station? It’s all relative I guess since what everyone definitely has in common is that it’s City Hall that’s getting blown to bits in that scene. (Maybe JJ’s NOT a Guiliani supporter?!)

Another website found another interesting piece on Tagruato’s website. They had a memo written in japanese and it has been translated. The translation reads:

The Chuai station, as reported by the Tagruato website, is just east of New York. My assumption is that they have discovered something at that Chuai station, something very important (the monster).

On a side note, i think alot of these websites (like Slusho and all the flavor combinations) are just part of the viral marketing plan. The brilliance behind viral marketing is that it’s not your typical, everyday advertising, and this is what JJ wants. We have to remember that they planned on using this viral marketing to generate hype from people. and get people to search around.
So how many of these websites and information will actually pertain to the movie…….. who’s to say. All i know from reading these forums is……… the producers at Cloverfield are doing a heck of a job promoting this movie.

You know jet fuel could create an explosion like that. Jet fuel is mostly kerosene and would just explode without causing a huge shockwave. It would just burn up in a flash of light.
Not to mention, the color of the explosion is more like a kerosene flame, whereas a natural gas explosion is a brighter explosion.
Or, there could be a store of kerosene at the location where the creature came up out of the ground. The projectiles coming out of the blast could be the remnants of whatever the creature came up out of.
Okay. After doing a little more research on the subject, the explosion could have been caused be a thrown Liquid Natural Gas tanker. Unlike piped natural gas, LNG burns faster and would have a smaller, less destructive blast radius.
I know this has little or nothing to do with the creature, but that whole explosion thing has me going now too. Explosions are real things that we can talk about instead of a mysterious mythical magical Slusho! beast.

Haha, i mean……… nice research and all. But in the end, why does it really matter what caused the explosion? I’m sure we’ll find out in the movie, and I’m sure most the people watching will just be in awe of the huge explosion itself. It may not even come into play in the movie at all. I just dont understand where these destruction maps of the monster and what kind of gas explosion it was really matters………… not being mean or anything, I just think theres other things to spend time researching.

Actually the explosion is relevant. Remeber when the trailer first came out, some people considere’d the explosion to be the monster breathing fire. Keep in mind this theory has NOT been debunked yet.
If perhaps Jerry triangulated the point in which the trailer shows the explosion and gives us confirmation that there is / is not a gas line or any sort of explosive material in the area…then the theorie of the fire breathing / fire creating / fire using, part of the monster is infact debunked.
