The parasite / little monstor theorie?
Posted on November 19th, 2007 at 1:39 pm in Uncategorized |
With the new trailer out and all, and a full HD version available to us at Apple. New theories…and old ones, are popping up again.
Probably the most interesting one is the “parasite” theorie or the little monstors and the best piece of evidence we have so far is a scene in the second trailer in which we see 3 character’s shadows being projected against a piece of wall (this at 1:03 in the trailer).

The first picture e-mailed to me by Joint SSgt Jim T. second, a posted link given by Chickennoodle and Octavian (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/6236/biohazardxv9.png)
As the women screams and you supposedbly hear a “munching of flesh” sound, Soldiers run to / from the scene. Indicating that either canabalistic humans that look to have evolved in to bear looking creatures have arrived…or…Little parasitic monstors are involved in the movie. Other evidence could include the circled “claw” marks in the picture above which would resignate why the women in the picture one below would have two, maybe three, gashes across her arm which would lead to an “infection”?

And what of the agument to disprove this?
Well, take a look at this;

Put those three characters infront of a blinding light and look at the shadow, and you can see how the confusion can be called.
People could argue that the “flesh eating” sound could be the mutation of the “infected” as some may theorie.
Also in this picture; notice the bottom right medical worker, seemingly doing nothing as a women supposedly get’s “eaten by little monstors”, evidenting that this may be a routine thing for him because he is simply acting normal:

What are your thoughts and views on the Parasitic / little monsters in the movie, do you like the idea of little monsters? Which point of view do agree with?
Any trailer pics would be appreciated to continue this debate; www.jarviscoxwell21@hotmail.com

Personally ladies and gentleman i think this is deffinitely the shadow of the women and the biohazard suit.
….i agree… becauase that other guy seems to calm for it to be little monsters (see right side, man sitting down)
but that almost absolutely confirms Marlene dies… :(
see was kinda kool
Yes deffinitely too calm (as said in post).
im now more interested in HOW she die’s….look at the trailer and the clips above and it looks like she’s exploding! WTF…HOW THE FUCK?!
I personally think that those are just the guys in the larger hazmat suits and the sound is from a different piece of the film. This is probably just J.J. trying to throw us off.
I would assume that she does not explode. That is a little too far fetched. A giant monster isn’t though.
assploding people…did jj ever mention anything about liking the movie scanners? he liked godzilla, and we now have cloverfield, if he liked scanners, we could see heads assplode too
My theory is that the pixelated soldier is Shaq or Ryan Howard.
maybe is locke
Maybe it is Jimmy Rollins. The 2007 NL MVP.
This is definately two guys in hazmat suits with a woman that is suddenly expanding. Whether she explodes or not, I don’t know, but more importantly is the question of why this is happening to her? What does a giant monster and some sort of infection have to do with one another?
jimmy hoffa?
These are NOT little monsters they ARE men in bio hazmat suits. I found the proof (clips from the movie) see here:

It does seem that something has indeed infected the woman being held. And if you look at the 2nd trailer closely she appears to be expanding or exploding. (ALIEN Chest Busters Anyone???)
well its already been pointed out that those are definitely biohazard suits…
but why wear biohazard suits when its a giant monster attacking the city?
this tells us that theres definitely a virus type of thing going around that affects people
maybe people turn into zombielike creatures?
OK. I have been following along with this since I saw the trailer before transformers and I think I have some points to make. If you have heard any of this before let me know please. First of all I think were not putting enough thougth into the slusho connection. I this magical ingredient has somehting to do with this monster and people have been ingesting it maybe thats how the virus or parasite takes hold. It might have been laying dorment untill the monster shows up and then BAM everyone thata been drinking the stuff starts to mutate. Just a theorie though. And one more question. In the picture of the man and woman holding the door closed. Whats trying to get through the door. We klnow its not the big monster unless its pushing the door with his pinky toe so we have to assume either these characyers are jerks and are trying to keep the good hiding places for themselves or they are being persued by something. Food for thought. Keep up the good work kids.
Well its got to be some sort of virus or bacteria. Or maybe its related back to Slusho(i just got back into Cloverfield, so someone tell me if JJ disproved Slusho so I dont make an idiot of myself)
Maybe not zombies, but some sort of mind-control that the creature uses over the people that its infected, that changes their appearance?
Mmmmm…so many ideas…I’ll wait until someone says if Slusho has been disproved or not ’till I respond again..
well isnt slusho made from a ‘deep sea ingredient’ ??
thats probably what gets these people infected with whatever
Slusho is confirmed. It is a legit site but we do NOT know the significance of the drink.
Welcome back to Cloverfield :-)
yeah, Slusho is. Im pretty certain that Slusho and the monster are connected, especially since how the backround on the website looks.
I find it really interesting that we don’t know a whole lot about the camera man, who seems to die because Rob starts filming himself even though the rest of the trailer shows him not using it.
And technically, the picture of the girl that seems to explode with doesn’t technically confirm that Marlene dies, even though the shadow looks a lot like her…
The only thing confirmed are some websites…and the 2 trailers lol….Oh, and the name.

Got this link from a equally enthused friend. Author slowed down and zoomed in on the one monster sighting in new trailer and looped it. I personally can’t see much, but maybe someone else can.
Yeah, quite honestly the trailer proves very little. As far as little monsters go, my first thought related to the subway, when they start to run and you hear some sort of bug like sound prior to their running. (Sounded like winged fluttering.) But honestly that could be -anything- They could be about to be run down by rats & pigeons which are fleeing the monster through the subway. (Scenes like that have occurred time & time again in films where you think something is coming and it turns out to be something unexpected.)
(But this doesn’t discount that it couldn’t be some smaller beastie, just says it doesn’t guarantee that it is.)
As well we get this glimpse of the monster. : http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/6734/image1me8.jpg
This happens between 1:28 - 1:30 in the trailer.
The girl is absolutely exploding. My thought on the matter may be like ‘Aliens’ but a little more violent. Where perhaps somehow, be it slusho, or something else, it got in her, then burst out violently. Hell it could even be that somehow a human explosive got inside of her and was set off.
The helicopter near the end leaves many questions unanswered as well. Hard to tell if they are being attacked from within (which would hint at a small thing.) or from outside (Maybe the large thing grabs them?) or maybe some form of shrapnel took out the pilot and they are doomed to die due to a random incident.
So really a number of the scenes could be taken a number of ways.
One thing no one has really touched on though is the opening.
“Multiple Sightings of Case Designate “Cloverfield” Camera retrieved at site US 447 Area Formerly Known as “Central Park”.”
What I gather from this -
1 ) Sightings Outside NYC & The US (Hence site ‘US’) and then at least 446 other sites located within the US alone, though central park being most of uptown Manhattan, you’d have to figure maybe 2 more site #s for Manhattan alone, plus the other boroughs, and NJ might account for like about 15 of those locations.
2 ) The destruction brought about is on a massive scale.
100% agree with the guys-in-biohazard-suits idea — these are people simply doing the job, whatever it is.
My theory on the whole matter:
The woman behind the screen (possibly Marlena, could be someone else, but we know she doesn’t look too good there in a lot of the pictures we have from her), deffinitely has something coming out of her — whether she’s actually exploding could be left to debate. For me, it’s the fleshy sound that confirms this. Big monster with lots of little monsters fit, and right now, I’m running with the theory that the monsters are crabs: specifically, ones found in the deepest part of the ocean. Big one gets house knocked from under him by Slusho’s parent corporation, gets pissed, decides to run amok in the nearest city it can lay its pincers on.
Those infected are actually carrying and incubating the eggs of the creature — the exploding woman seems to have come to full term. How the characters get infected is completely beyond me — could be forced injection or innocent injestion (Slusho is supposed to have some secret ingredient found on the ocean floor, “seabed’s nectar” which, translated literally, could mean eggs of some sort, and maybe someone left a batch out instead of keeping it at optimal temperature — no clue).
Supporting this are the Slusho connection and the seemingly random picture posted in 1-18-08.com which lists one of some recipe’s key ingredients as “ocean bottom crab.” Seems to fit.
Second, take a look at the creature, kinda looks like it could be a crab, considering how little we actually see it.
Third, in the subway scene we hear those weird bug sounds or whatever they are — could very well be crab scuttling.
Just my take, could be/probably am wrong.
A little off topic, but has anyone noticed that Jamie is nowhere to be seen in this trailer, and in fact, her actress isn’t credited at the end?
MAYBE ITS A CHUTHULU!!!!! OR GODZILLA!! naw seriously guys i mean look at the trailer you can plainly see that she is about to explode!
i dont think a giant crab would make a good monster movie although!!!! godzilla does have this giant turtle thingy so i guess you have a point, I still say it looks like some kind of sea monster that can walk on two legs and throw stuff. OH take a look at the end of the trailer, look at how the monster is basically manhandling the bridge! i think you can see a glimpse of it if you puase it real quick.
Biohazard suits.
When I first saw it, I thought little monsters too, because what looks like a claw going through her body, but slowing it down, it’s absolutely biohazard guys.
Someone posted why wear biohazard suit when fighting a giant monster? Why invade Iraq when there was no Al Qaeda there before we went in?
It’s a pointless question. They are wearing the suits, and we are in Iraq. lol
I’m not getting political, I’m just making silly statements for the sake of seeing how silly the two statements are. Don’t start hating on me because I posted that. lol
Maybe this movie will explain where in the hell the story disappeared to from the Transformers movie. And where did Scorponok goto after his tail was cut off. And why you take a frozen robot to the hottest part of the US…….the Nevada desert?
Okay, now you can start hating.
Seriously, I really am glad that we can all start getting excited about this movie again.
How could little monsters destroy New York city? It HAS to be something big. Or at least something big at first, like a metor crashing in and the little guys could come out of it. Personaly, I was looking forward to a Voltron movie. But I dont see that happening…
One Word…
G-O-D-Z-I-L-L-A.
OR
V-O-L-T-R-O-N.
OR
G-O-D-Z-I-L-L-A/V-O-L-T-R-O-N Hybrid.
Pure Awesomeness.
Tyler….. I went to a public school, but that’s totally nine words.
Unless you are counting G-O-D-Z-I-L-L-A/V-O-L-T-R-O-N as one word. But still.
I knew I should have asked my parents to send me to Catholic Central. Damn it!
@officespacejk - LOL Scaners! I was thinking the same thing! dating ourselves. ha ha ha.
She changing! I don’t think she is going to explode, i think she is changing into something else. gotta stay away from those 6 slusho’s.
Well guys, yesterday i posted two new posts, check the news section for “monster sightings” and another 1. :-D
Right, someone said in the previous topic that the flippery sounds in the subway are most likely to be caused by rats and whatever else lives down there. Why would Rob go mental, screaming “Run run run”? It’s probably not rattatouille. On the other hand i doubt the sound comes from some flying small creatures. It doesn’t make sense. The monster comes from the sea and last time i checked, stuff that lives down the ocean can’t really spread a set of wings and fly.
I strongly believe the woman behind the curtain is either gonna pop or mutate as someone mentioned previously. There’s no doubt we’re dealing with an infection. Military hazard suits confirm that. As far as i can predict, we’re gonna be dealing with a Slusho infection or through other twisted means. Somenone stated that the weird fleshy sound could be planted there on purpose so that JJ could through us off. I’m not denying it but it doesn’t make any sense. Even if that is a dummy sound, i doubt the girl screaming in agony is a mislead as well.
As far as i know, JJ himself confessed we’re dealing with an alien. An alien is not the same thing as an extraterrestrial however. It might as well be a new/forgotten species of crab like organisms. I managed to play the trailer several times these days and bumped into a what-could-be-a-clue.
http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=outershellxh1.png
My best bet is that’s an outer shell. Even if a crab like creature seemed far fetched a while ago, several clues point the opposite. I wasn’t really bothered with that recipe but i’m aware it mentioned crabs among other things.
matthew1808 can you please post a screenshot of what you described about the bridge? I failed to notice anything relevant.
Cloverfield Part 2
The official high definition trailer found its way on apple.com a few days ago so everyone got hyped again. This second clip partially describes how it “all went down” and also gives the public a chance to speculate on how the actual m…

:)
Got word from H.P. whose girlfriend is a manager at a movie theater that according to the scoreboard the movie won’t be release until 02/08/08. Apparently this has been the case since September.
Wow…Octavian…thats reeeeeeeally creepy. And since Gerald mentioned how the crab idea would link to the one picture on 1-18-08.com thats got me thinking in that direction too.
And what about Tagruato? The deep-sea mining company that was going to be opening a “deep sea” drilling area off the East Coast that apparently was linked to Slusho or something? If the monster is a crab, then maybe they pissed it off…
Wait…what about a conspiracy? If people are becoming infected once the creature comes out, maybe its in a way we don’t know yet, and maybe Slusho is the antidote? So, Slusho finds this creature or hell creates it, pisses it off, has it start to run amok in the NYC then is found out that Slusho kills the infection and everyone has the buy the antidote from them and they make trillions of dollars? Classic bad-guy move.
The pic on 1-18-08 translates to “deep sea necter” not “deep sea crab”.
in reference to Matthew’s comment about the monster and the bridge…i see that too and thought the same thing. that the monster is pulling down the bridge.
“Deep sea nectar” — heard this one before, but I still stand by my crab theory. Crab eggs are typically small, slimy things which can be spread easily like a paste, and also whipped into a liquid. Considering that whatever is in that woman seems to be hatching inside her, it would fit. Of course, as I said before, I have no idea whether Slusho is actually a delivery system or if it by itself is really that important beyond as a means of pissing off the giant moster.
As for the biohazard suits, this doesn’t necessarily point to a bacterial or viral invasion but could also be due to some sort of infestation (read little monsters which incubate inside of human hosts).
The real question, I think is what Jamie has to do with all this, or more specifically, Teddy. What is this “cause?” What’s in the box? Is he possibly a bioterrorist leading the large monster to civilisation by means of directing her brood to New York?
I dunno if anyone has stated this, and I read all the comments, to lazy to re-check them. But on the trailer web-site the statue of Liberty has a HUGE claw mark in its back like the monster slapped the head off while walking in, so it has to be a big creature.
What I don’t understand about the trailer is that there is a enormous explosion in the middle of the city, if this was some sort of physical attack, how does a monster make an enormous explosion in a park? Unless it was a gas-line or w/e but thats stretching it and answering my own question.
I’m certainly stoked about this movie after learning of it a few days ago. I’m still reading up on the lore and all that surrounding this. Ive heard all things from it being Halo, Resistance:Fall of Man, Voltron(debunked so i hear), and godzilla (debunked as well). I’ll just have to wait this out i guess. It parasite movie is interesting, but I dunno what would explain the larger creature that is foreshadowed in the trailer. I kinda hope I dont figure out before the movie comes out XD
Just a couple of things
When Robert has the camera ie after the expanding/exploding moment, he says “…something attacked” as in the singular. If there had been lots of little monsters attacking - up until that point - he would say “somethings” or words alluding to that.
She is defo expanding and they are defo bio haz guys and I reckon they are suited as they know whats about to happen to her and are avoiding infection….or just some offal. The pixelated soldier says “there’s nothing you can do for her now” so obviously however she has been infected they are sort of wise to it and it’ s infectious (hence the bio suit), she’s obviously been one of many “exploders” and that you’re f*cked either way. The question is why her and not the others. Rob also has a grey/green stain on his shirt that’s not blood. Probably nothing but mess but could have something to do with the infection of the girl.
On a random note:
When they are hiding in the shop some says (as like the teaser): “it’s alive”. No sh*t. Is that a clue or dodgy script writing?
Who is the tuxedo wearing old fella who appears in both trailers as part of the running crowd before the SOL head comes flying down. Again (weird) clue or best extras agent in hollywood.
In the shot of the jet fying away from the scene. Who shot that? It has clearly dropped a bomb as there is an explosion down below in the street. What was it going for? Can you see anything as there aint no creature towering over the buildings.
Why has the horse survivied when it’s driver has been killed or has he just done a runner? Either way good to see no anmals were hurt during filming! It’s a surreal part of the trailer mind you.
Good point there David. I didn’t notice the “there’s nothing you can do about her now” as i always thought he says “there’s nothing you can do about it”. The army has more than just a basic idea of what’s going on. Why would they already be dressed in haz suits, why would there be an airstrike only hours after the initial attack.
Yes, you can see where the bomb landed although the monster is nowhere to be seen so it could be some kind of carpet bombing to get rid of smaller creatures.
The part about “it’s alive” is a bit dodgy i have to admit. First the teaser and now while hiding in a shop. Maybe they expected the army to deal with it and the dude implying it’s alive is not really that confident.
Can anyone post a screenshot of the bridge scene so i can see for myself in what way does the creature intervene with the actual collapse? Would be appreciated.
First time post, long time watcher here.
I have a question and comment about the “it’s alive” line. After watching and rewatching and rerewatching both trailers, I still can’t tell if what the guys says is “it’s alive” or “it’s a lion.” Has anybody found what the guy really says?
I mean, the first trailer, both lines are kinda random and pointless. “it’s alive” sounds like that some of them have either created their own creature, or was informed about the possiblelity of it. “It’s a lion” doesn’t really sit right with me. I mean, if the creature is a lion, then it’s a big ass lion.
For the second one, the “it’s alive” one fits more because of the military involment. Also with the location their at. Hiding in a store. Meaning they where close by when a group of soilders fired at a monster of some type, maybe a lone little one, but failed to kill it, or just knocked it out for a while and got back up to kill them all. That would explain why they’re hiding in the store and the guy saying “it’s alive” means the question “is it dead?” was asked earlier.
But, “It’s a lion” also fits, but also makes the guy sound alittle slow. Everybody is hiding in the store, so more then one person saw the creature.
Tell me if I’m late to the party or if the “it’s alive/ a lion” statement has been disproven.
Octavian: Don’t know if i can list this or not, but cloverfieldclues has pasted an photo album and the bridge scene should be in it. check there.
oops, posted (not pasted).
Hey MoodyMan.
Well for starters. In both trailers, 1st one = Just outside Robs party. 2nd trailer = in the grocery store.
There are 3 controversies over what he says.
- “Its alive” (1st trailer)
- “Its a lion” (1st trailer.
- “Its a LIE” (mainly thought to be said in the 2nd trailer).
As to anyone knowing what anyone said, your guess is as good as our’s.
I think its safe to say its NOT “a lion”…the roar really does not sound like a lion.
It’s alive would make sense…i mean some dumb person might not realise the thing that threw the statue of liberty’s head is “alive…then w/e.
It’s a LIE, in my oppinion, is my favorite one. I think it would be better to the story to have a governemtn coverup or a rumor that transcripts to things being different.
Either way…i think the audience wins…if its a lion, well…awsome i guess :S ? If its alive…then…atleast its not a zombie :S ? Annnd if its a lie, government cover up, Jamie is deffinitley cheating on teddy hanson lol and sum other theories…
Obviously, the infection aspect is there.
It was taken from the korean monster movie “the host”.
It just means that the protocol state to treat the monster as a physical and viral entity.
Jarvis, from audio analysis, the Rob and Hawk actually say this.
Rob: “I need to get to my car!”
Hawk: “Rob, Rob — it’s a loss.” (CRASH)
Just been to cloverfield clues and dunno maybe it’s just me but we’re falling behind with updates.
The horse is the answer check out slusho
Octavian/Jarvis/Pr0LiFiX
Regarding the “it’s a…”. I must admit I have never heard “it’s a lion” even when I have tried to and it makes no sense and surely you would say “it’s a GIANT lion”. I like the “it’s a lie” though and it seems to sound that way on trailer 2. The guy [Hawk?] directs it at Rob only “Rob, Rob….”. If he were pointing out “it’s alive” surely that would be for everyone’s benefit. “It’s a lie” could be in response to them [him adn Rob] being given some spurious excuse by the military/gov/TV as to what’s causing the havoc.
However my fear is we could get bogged down by something that will not be provable - judging by the indecision - until scripts are seen.
Sorry Pr0LiFiX but I’m not buying “It’s a loss”.
On another note:
Is there anything to be made from the fact that when they are taking off in the heicopter it is night time and when we see them spinning out of control it is day light? What’s brought them down? Obviously something not defeated through the course of the night. So does the big monster survive the bombings etc or is it something else - I hope that’s not the final scene.
Also just trying to link stuff together time line wise. At 0:56 there is a flash shot of a large crowd at a bridge (New Yorkers can maybe say which one). There is a large spotlight in the top left which I’m assuming is a helicopter. Why are they there and is it shot from another camera? At 1:02 there is brief shot of people sort of rocking backwards. At 1:56 I’m assuming this is the same bridge under attack. There is also a beam of light coming from top left into the carnage so I’m assuming is the same light source as at 0:56. However no humanoids. Relevance or just shots setting the scene.
Sorry for the rambling
Sorry Octavian. I’ve been sooo busy at skool with all my college courses and rugby, i sleep when i get home at 6….New posts about Tagruato update + poster and sum other stuff will be up really soon…
It never bothered me that this wasn’t as up to date as the others. I like the way everyone “forums” for information and speculation. face it,we all check the other sites all the time too.
Brand new post up in the News section. All the updates and a 1 that NO ONE NOT EVEN UNFICTION has discovered yet - from your’s truly…
P.s…well, not discovered at this time anyway…
Tagruato.jp has changed…. ;)
Oh the lady is GOING to EXPLODE. (Whatever reason…infection yada yada)
The reason I say this is a visual one.
If she blows up you get her splatter all over the plastic sheeting.
So you never “really” see her expand (silhouette) or explode (decon tent) just an end result.
Which would be a gory effect without the “gore.”
That’s GOLD in horror.
You don”t “see it” so your imagination takes over which is worse because you can personalize it.
Jaws, Psycho, Texas Chainsaw etc…………..
