Nothing new, but some interesting stuff.

Posted on July 17th, 2007 in | No Comments »

It’s time for a list of gloat and thanks.

  • I was the first person to feature the photos that Ken took. Then other sites ended up posting a few hours later (even after the thread they were from were removed aka source) with the cropped version I put up. I mean, how many others can tell me the original size of those photos? Probably none.
  • So far the other websites have yet to receive a C&D letter to remove them, unlike myself.
  • Having up some vital information first, yet other websites fail to credit my website (because really, it’s obvious.)
  • After complying with a C&D, I receive an email from their lawyer which was also sent to my host. Top that, copycats.
  • Chatting it up all day long with the people over at irc (server: chat-solutions.org:667, channel: #slusho).
  • Big THANKS to Het Masteen for letting me know about Tarallo’s forum. Seriously, I owe you big time.

Yooka sent me an email earlier today (err yesterday?) letting me know that he’d be updating with a new post, so I’m definitely looking forward to that.

If you’re also tired of dealing with the mess that’s over at Unfiction, there are a couple of other forums that you can visit:

Again, thanks to all of you that have recently left comments, linked Project Cloverfield articles, or sent me emails. I really appreciate it!

1-18-08 on VH1’s “Best Week Ever”

Posted on July 16th, 2007 in | No Comments »

Saturday I was lazying around my house just watching tv with my boyfriend when I decided to channel surf, and somehow landed on VH1. I can’t remember what made me stop there (it was funny, that’s all I can remember), but when they were coming back from commercial, I saw a clip from 1-18-08 (the blond haired girl being ‘interviewed’) and freaked out. My boyfriend didn’t recognize her since he’s not as obsessed (and no doubt is probably tired of me talking about it!) but towards the end of the show, they started to talk about the movie.

I just came across the video clip for the show and wanted to just post it up here for you guys to watch as well. Thanks Nightowl3090!

How many of you are tired of reading articles from online newspapers and/or news stations that are writing about 1-18-08? 9news wrote an article that essentially was regurgitated information from various websites. It was enough to make me look for these icons: poser emoticon aah emoticon shake fist

The latest article, “Bait Balls of Fire,” (big WTF there) has some information I’ve yet to read about.

A few weeks ago, the movie was shot in Coney Island on the blocks contained by West Eighth Street, West 17th Street, Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk.

They shot several scenes at Deno’s Wonder Wheel, a scary swinging Ferris Wheel in which patrons ride in cages as they look out over Brooklyn. They also went on the Scooter bumper cars, played some ticket-stub games in the arcade, and rolled some skee ball.

A member of the Vourderis family, owners of Deno’s Wonder Wheel Park, gave authorization to the film crew to shoot there.

This is pretty interesting. If this is actually true, I wonder what scenes we can expect. Will they be other victims watching the destruction, will they die?

The next quote leads me to believe that their anonymous source, was fed the wrong information about the movie, should s/he decide to talk to press about it:

“It’s about an alien that wipes out all of New York City,” says one of the owners, who wants to remain anonymous. “The footage is taken the day before everyone dies. A bunch of kids come to Coney Island with a video camera. The movie is a flashback to that day.”

We already know that they’re partying before the actual desctruction occurs. The chances of them going to Cooney Island to ride the ferris wheel while NYC is being attacked is pretty slim. But could they be right about what is attacking NYC? It’s definitely feeling a little like War of the Worlds here, but I quite like the alien invasion. Though I would rather watch a more “original” monster movie.

At this point, it’s safe to say that you need to take these articles with a grain of salt.

1-18-08 Set Photos Have Been Removed

Posted on July 16th, 2007 in | 11 Comments »

As you may or may not have heard, Ken Tarallo announced ever-so subtly that he was fired from the “show.” (source for the “show”) If you were recently fired, would you be that nice? Regardless, I am very skeptical about his being “fired.” I personally feel like he is trying to guilt trip people into feeling remorse, but unfortunately I am not falling for that.

Since posting ‘Pictures of the 1-18-08 Set’ I received a couple of comments from FXdude, which I assumed to be Ken. The first comment was “you stealing my pictures is a crime. that is why I took everything down.” Yeah yeah, we all know about copyright dude. The next comment from him was “the rules of the forum state no pictures can be used without permission. and yes I own the pictures. I know many people want to learn more about this Movie, but we have rules and contracts that we sign, I would love to show you all of them and maybe when I get permission you will see them, until then I had to take down the pictures. enjoy what you have..”

Despite the fact that he ignored my request to PERSONALLY email me (to prove his identity), I took it upon myself to email the address being used in frightstuff’s whois. I then received a phone call (Dude needs to get better service, he didn’t have two consecutive seconds where I could understand him) and then received an email shortly after.

This email left me appalled and in disgust. Guess who he blames? HIS FANS: “I run a forum for the fans of movies, and now those fans cost me a lot…” Apparently other information we provided, he is vehemently trying to disprove it’s existence. “I have seen mentions of me saying things online which are madeup to spread info..”

No doubt he’ll try to disprove what I quoted him saying in this post, but hey, that’s not my problem.

Slash Film recently blogged with the photos from here. So far that is the only entry I’ve found so far that has them up still. Cloverfield-Movie.com has yet to remove them, but I’m about to send them an email to let them know to remove it.

Edit: As of 1:27PM CST, I received an email from Paramount (copyright-compliance.com) in regards to the images. Despite having removed them from the entry, they are now listing the actual directory they are being stored at. So, I am complying. Just letting those other people that have this photos up, to remove them to save hassle with having to deal with this.

Edit: 7/20/07 - For those of you that have your heads up his ass, I am not the one to blame for Ken’s firing (etc.) Ken posted this photos up at his website, and he screwed up on his own. If you are going to comment any entry here in regards to the issue, it will be deleted (aka any mongers that still have shit on their face.)

Cloverfield Round-Up - Chris, a commenter at “Wanderlust,” thinks that Cloverfield is about Pokemon or Digimon. If Chris knew anything about the people involved in this project, Chris would know that there is no way in hell that they would have anything to do, professionally, with either kid’s program.

Cloverfield Mystery Solved - Clip of the Day - You know about that Cloverfield thing, right? The mysterious trailer for the mysterious J.J. Abrams movie that debuted last weekend in front of the not-at-all mysterious Transformers movie?

Is Abrams’ Cloverfield/1-18-08 Really … Rampage the Movie??? - Is J.J. Abrams’ top-secret monster movie, currently shooting under the fake title “Cloverfield” (or is that “1-18-08″?) really a live-action big-screen version of the side-scrolling monster game “Rampage”?

The Explosion - I remember when I was younger being fascinated by the effects of nuclear weapons, back then America was in the middle of the Cold War, and the threat of a full scale nuclear attack seemed plausible, even inevitable.

If you’re a member of the fright forums you may have come across a thread that features pictures of the set for 1-18-08, which I believe were taken by Ken himself, though I am not entirely sure. Make sure to credit Ken/Frightstuff for the photos if you do use/post them elsewhere!

Thanks to HetMasteen from the Unfiction Forums for finding this and letting us know in the #slusho IRC channel (server: irc.chat-solutions.org:667). He was approved for his membership at the Tarallo forums and found this little bit posted in one of the threads there:

First post: July 8th.
user clownnation: I just saw the “cloverfield” teaser when i went and saw Transformers. All I can say Ken, is WHOA! Its amazing how that teaser hooked me and I have no idea what the movie is about, who ever put that teaser together is brilliant! There is a HUGE internet buzz about it now!

user fxdude (Ken):Yes it will be interesting.. did you see the Statue Of Liberty head fly down the street?, we shot all that at Paramounts backlot, New York Street, most people think we are shooting it with a handy cam, but NO we are using the state of the art DVD Panavision camera. Also the press is stating that it is shooting now in New York… WRONG AGAIN media people ..

user doghead76: hehe…they thought statue of liberty…that’s New York. isn’t it fun though, when you can keep on fooling people that way? I mean…that’s just another shade of movie magic, don’t you think?

user clownnation: Yes I did see the Statue of Liberty’s head. That wasnt CG? It really does look like a handy cam, GREAT EFFECTS! I usually dont like trailers these days, they give away the entire movie, but this trailer told me very little and hooked me right in!

user fxdude (Ken): Some of it was CG the rest mechanical, as the head hits the ground we yanked the cars out of the way shook the buildings, broke the glass, created sparks, anything the CG item hits we have to destroy. a lot of work.. “Godzilla meets Escape from New York”

Cloverfield Comment That Had Me Intrigued - Is it me or did that sepuence look and sound very similar to the sequence when the tripods rise from under the street in War Of The Worlds?

Official Drink of ‘Cloverfield’ Viral Marketing Campaign - If I learned one thing from playing Nintendo games in the ’80s and early ’90s is that the adventure is more fun than the end of the game. I’d play hours upon hours to win countless games that just end with a lousy ‘congratulations’…

Jinkies! It’s a Mystery! - Thanks to a posting by TV’s Franklin (LJ’s own Gradma Helsing) I’m in danger of falling tits-deep into speculation and buzz over this “Cloverfield” movie (a.k.a. “1/18/08″, “The Untitled J.J. Abrams Project”).

JJ Abrams Is The New Yoda - Unless you’re a nerd, you may not know about the fervor being created around an unnamed J.J. Abrams movie that has been referred to as “Cloverfield.” All that’s really known about the film is…

Bournes Movie Marketing - With the net being alive with Cloverfield rumors, puzzles and links, it seems to have given studios and fans new ideas on how to market a film. The latest for The Bourne Ultimatum
