Pop Candy over at VH1’s Best Week Ever blog has posted again about the 1-18-08 movie. Nothing really interesting, but still fun to see the movie getting buzz.
Though I’m disappointed about this site not being linked, especially since Cloverfieldnews.com made it up there. *shrugs*
Remember when we told you about JJ Abrams‘ latest incomprehensibly mysterious project “Cloverfield”, and how soon all the insane Lost conspiracy theorists will have something else to arbitrarily torture themselves with? Well BAN Member Pop Candy brings us the scoop on the very first fanboys claiming to have the figured viral marketing riddle all figured out.
The Internet is abuzz today with some folks who think they’ve solved the Cloverfield mystery. Is J.J. Abrams‘ new project called Monstrous? Does it feature the three creatures of the apocalypse: one on land, one in the air and one in the sea? Check out the theory and see if it adds up.

Three monsters of the apocalypse?
Sounds lame. I’m hoping it’s just one monster. Just one beast that blows the shit out of New York.
helps when you actually get the pop candy site right. it originally on usatoday.com.
Does it really matter? It’s still posted over to VH1, since Pop Candy has its own section there.
Jordan,
Thank you for posting this info, regardless of where it came from.
I for one am sick of people on this board and others who never have anyting to contribute to the discussions other than sarcastic commentary. Keep the posts coming.
Nice theory, but I’m not buying it.
The only real dialogue we have about the monster seems to implicate there is only one. The movie has a rather minuscule budget of 30 million dollars, and from what we’ve seen the shoot is using city streets, military vehicles, etc.
I just don’t think they have the effects budget to do three seperate monsters justice. I also believe the “gimmick” of the movie is to have the movie focus on immersion. With the Blair Witch style-first hand photography, I’m sure there will be as much emphasis on what isn’t shown as opposed to what is shown.
If the movie was about three separate creatures, I believe there would be a greater expectation to see them clash, and for there to be bigger action/set pieces, ala The Transformers.
Lastly, Slusho.jp features several animals. And it is a donkey, nor a horse, as the site’s source code (decompiled flash) reveals.
However, I still enjoy reading speculation. As to the title/posters, it could be something to keep us happy and interested since no other info has been released online really since slusho.jp launched. Though it does sound suspicious that a comic shop just happens to have the posters on display. How did that happen, and why aren’t there better pictures of them?

Prophetically, the beasts will be their own undoing. They’re not just here to destroy man.
